The Montana Florist Association (MFA) was established to foster collaboration, goodwill, and mutual support among florists, store owners, wholesalers, vendors, growers, event planners, and educators across Montana and surrounding states. MFA promotes the advancement of the floral industry by encouraging cooperation and providing valuable floral industry networking opportunities that help members connect, learn, and grow professionally.

Leadership and Governance of MFA
MFA is governed by a volunteer Board consisting of five members, along with a Secretary and a Treasurer. Board members contribute their time and expertise to guide the association’s vision and activities. In accordance with MFA's by-laws, the Board conducts meetings via phone conferences throughout the year and gathers in person during the Annual Convention.

Legacy Story
Over 85 years ago, the first Montana Florists Association was held in Great Falls, MT. In 1936, my grandfather, Herman Feiden, served as President, followed by my father, Ted Byers, in 1962. My mother, Connie Feiden-Byers, presided when the Association celebrated its 40th anniversary in 1970, again in Great Falls. I helped bring MFA into the 21st century as President in 2000. As my mother wrote, “This must be what is called tradition!”
Just as the founding florists had faith and pride in the floral industry 85 years ago, we must continue in their footsteps, striving to enhance our industry. While our numbers may be small and most of us no longer grow our own plants and cut flowers, we still share our enthusiasm for florist association events and the valuable educational opportunities provided at our Conventions. These events foster vital floral industry networking that strengthens our community and knowledge.
